I am doing a reserach paper on a notorious inmate in federal custody. He was convicted of being the leader of a large gang. I was interested in writing him a letter to see if he might respond asking him a few basic questions but am concerned to do so: Would it make law enforcement think I am some how connected to him or his gang, or put me on any kind of background check or watch list to write him a letter?
