Problem with Vista Image please help?

Ok i don't know really know how to explain this but im going to do my best but today i turned on my computer and when it turn on and loaded up to the password screen it looked like it was in safe mode where the picture wasn't like it was windows XP and everything looks all zoomed in and stuff i want it to lok it was a Vista cause i've tried restarting a few times and messing with the image controls but i just don't know how i can't use a computer like this so please explain to me step by step to fix this if you know how
