Problem With Unlocking N-series

Are there issues with unlocking an AT&T Nokia N-series phones? I tried yesterday & 1 shop had the phone for almost 3 hours & said the software wouldn't connect with the Nokia. I called 3 other places that adverise they coulkd do it, but all said it was not possible right now. Something about nokia servers offline.
Anyone know what thesee shops are talking about?

I am trying to unlock it so I can turn off 3G since my phone reboots it seems when connected to 3g, but at home where there is none, the phone does not reset at all.

If the phone is an recent AT&T branded firmware phone, then unlocking won't help you.
When AT&T rips out the band selection menu, it stays ripped out. Only phones that can be flashed with generic firmware can be band switched.

Unlocking allows the use of the AT&T branded phone with another carriers sim card.

Finally, some Nokia phone models have had firmware upgrades available which fixed the rebooting in certain 3g areas. Maybe that is what you need.

look into changing the product code, then flash it to a generic firmware so you can select 2g or 3g. it is super easy to do. google it and you will find the software and product codes fairly easily. once you change the code you can use pcsuite to reinstall the firmware for the new product code and you are good to go.
i did it with the e71 and the n86 and it takes no time at all from start to finish. the software is called nemesis service suite
