Problem with Pokemon Ruby Game - can't battle!?

The game turns on, with sounds and graphics, but once you get to a battle, the screen goes black. Sound continues, but none of the buttons make anything happen. Have tried blowing out the cartridge and DS, but no good. Any suggestions?
 
Blow on it while try get it clean with dry cloth or somthin if that doesnt work maby it is ur gameboy i wouldnt smack the gameboy cuse that's like smacking the monotor of you'r computer.
 
well, i dont like DS's or Pokemon so if i were in your place i would burn them both and sue the companies for making such shity things. i hope i helped :D
