Problem with Peugeot 306 GLX HDI Yreg hazard lights flashing continually

They are very prone to alarm problems: Check the interior lights all go off when you shut the door, and check the boot & especially the bonnet contacts.
The remote sensor in the roof lining is prone to water ingress: Pop it out & check the electronics for signs of rot.
Most people end up pulling the alarm fuse, which allows the remote locking to still work.
 
when using remote to lock? I recently bought a 2001 Peugeot 306 GLX estate, when you lock the car with the remote, the hazard lights flash twice but then come back on and stay flashing. The odd thing is if you press the remote again straight way( unlock relock), the hazards flash once and stay off like they should. The dealer I bought this from said that the remote needed to be re-programed, but I had this checked and it is communicating fine with the car. Any ideas?

The car battery was also dead this morning after leaving it over the weekend ( all electronics turned off).
Any help much appreciated
