Problem with my new Slash 4x4 brushless

Just buy a new Rc and I am very a noob about all this.

My problem is that somethimes, the car wont move at all.

Everything can go fine for a few minutes. Sometimes, when the car stop moving (ex: after braking), even if I pull the triger, the car wont move. Cant go foward or backward. However, I can move the wheels. This can happen even if the car is at 1 foot in front of me. When it wont move, I can hear a sound when pulling the triger. I hear like a radio signal or something. I never lost control of the wheels.

Sometimes, I will pull the triger 3-4 times and it will start to run again. Sometimes, I need to cut off everyting and restart. When I do this, everything is fine again.

Motor is not hot. Running with the default battery. Fist time it happened, it was running since 1 minute.

Hope this help to make the problem clear. Did I miss something in the setup? I am running with the red lite on. 100F 100brake
100reverse

Tried 70/30 and 50/50

Thanks everyone.

Have you tried using different settings on the ESC?

If I remeraber right, there are 2 settings that include reverse, one setting requires a 1 second pause where the motor is at a dead stop in order to initiate a different direction.

This was a real pain for me when I started because I'd accidentaly initiate reverse when going over a jump, and the truck would have to stop and pause for what seemed like more than just 1sec before I could go forward again.

The other setting requires no pause between forward and reverse, only that the pinion stops turning.

No, i have not try other settings. Only run in sport mode. 100foward, brake, 100 reverse.

However, the problem is not that the car stop.
Its when it is stopped, sometimes he refuse to move at all.

And i dont run in lipo mode. Am using the default 7 cell battery

more than likely it is a faulty esc speed controller ..traxass had many problems with this ....i had the very same problem

1.make sure esc is set up for what your running per instructions ...drive mode and battery shut off mode
2.make sure radio is calibrated to esc per instructions
3.make sure all connectors are solid with no broken connections

4. call traxxas and get an rma to send your esc back

Everything is fine in the configuration. I will call traxxas. Not very lucky, this is my first rc and got problem from the start.

I know I will have to change some piece in the future but I didnt think It would be right out of the box. If this always happen, maybe its not a hobby for me...

Thanks for the help. I appreciate

It sounRAB like you have the LVC( low voltage cutoff) engaged.

When you power up the ESC, what color is the LED?

If its green, you need to disarm the LVC( only do this if using nicd/nimh batts)

To disarm, turn the truck on as you would normally, and push the ESC on button for approx 10 seconRAB, you should hear a falling tone, and the ESC will change to a red LED.

you should be good to go after that.

If the LED light is already red, you will likely need to contact traxxas.

ive had this problem before...its most likely the esc....call traxxas and they will get it taken care of...only thing is u may b without ur truck for a week or so but they awesome customer service and will make it right or u may try taking to ur lhs and they may b able to help as well

Yes i have seen this at the hobby shop that i work at, traxxas sent a new esc and problem was fixed. He had just bought the truck 3 days prior to this happening.

Just wanted to give a update.

Changed my esc. Problem is mostly solved. Now, it never happen that the car wont go foward after 4-5 hit of the throttle. Before, for one battery 7 cell, i had to close and restart esc 2-3 times.

Dont happen anymore.

However about 1/15 time, i need to hit the throttle 2 times before it go foward when in stopped position. Is this normal or got again a faulty esc?

Does it happen, from time to time, that your rc car wont go foward or backward the first time you hit the throttle?

Thanks all

Forgot to say that it seem to never happen with a full battery.

Only after abkut 15-20 minutes of play with the same battery.

Anyone can tell me if this is normal?

Pretty sure you have the LVC enabled. This happened on my buddys truck when he was using the stock battery. after he went lipo no problems.

thanks for the reply but no, the red light is on.

It seem to only happen when the stock battery is in use for about 20 minutes and getting weaker...

Well, if this kind of behavior is normal, I guess my slash doesnt have a problem anymore.

Can someone explain me why this kind of problem is happening when you got a low battery? I would like to understand the logic behind it...

when the battery gets low, the ESC/MOTOR/SERVO need a good amount of volts to work properly, if they dont have enough power they start acting goofy and dont know what to do, servo will start twitching or just not work, ESC will not work or will be very speratic transfering power to the motor.

Chances are if you are just using the stock 7 cell battery its prolyl dieing off around that 20 min period. i havent seen many packs that are a lipo last longer ten 15 mins. Chances are your hitting a low voltage cutoff which would make your truck stop and not wanna go, or sometimes stop then move a few feet and stop. just need freshy batteries all the time.
