Problem with MPT and my v9m thru Verizon

Just downloaded the latest version of Motorola Phone Tools: v5, own a Motorola v9m and for the life of me, cannot transfer my text messages to my PC. Called the MPT support and they said Verizon has restrictions on the phone to not allow that? Can that be right? If so, how do I get the restrictions off? Please help!

This is a common issue with almost all 3rd party software.

As a Verizon Wireless user, you may have noticed the crippled interface. Doesn't every Verizon Wireless phone have the same interface? Yes...it does.

Verizon Wireless cripples the phones, which also includes blocking out many 3rd party software applications, making it impossible to use.

Sometimes, it is possible to override this...but at this time, the Motorola RAZR appears to have no override codes.

It is Verizon Wireless who restricts this. They aren't a bad carrier, but it can get on your nerves when you are limited to only their software.

So does Verizon offer the software to do this? I looked and didn't find any, that's why I went with the Motorola phone tools. I really need to download my texts, my phone is so full. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!!

Unfortunately nick is right, VZW "cripples" certain features on their phones, and even having MPT isn't going to help. May want to try searching on Google to see if there is something else out there that will do it.

Just remember, if you get into using other types of s/w with your phone, you could brick it, and really screw things up. So if you do decide to try something else, please do all your homework first. :)

Try connecting using VZ Access Manager, and from the software, click Text Messages.

It will not require the monthly $60 plan unless you browse the internet wireless using Broadband Access Connect. But using this software also allows you to directly transfer your texts to your computer. You can even send them, using your mobile number, from this software.

Thanks so much for the link. Did the download, but have not been able to figure out how to get them exported. Was able to view them though, so there must be a way. As soon as I can, I will take a good look at it again and see what I can do. Again, thanks for the help!
