My AC compressor pulley on my 1996 Mercury Mystique is seized. I have a new one and am ready to put it on. I have taken off the serpentine belt and am trying to figure out how to unbolt the ac compressor from the car and if it is safe to do this from underneath due to the fact that I think freon is going to spray out. I am wondering if I take out the 4 bolts I see surrounding the compressor that is semi blocked my the pulley or is that the wrong ones to take out? I also can not seem to find the right size wrench and this is sad. I think it is metric but can not for the life of me get a wrench around those bolts to loosen them. It is a really tight spot because there is maybe 2 inches of clearance between the metal and the pulley and I have a hard time squeezing my hand in there to get the bolts loose. Also I am loosening the bolts from underneath and I can see only 3. The fourth is up on the top right of the compressor and I see no possible way of getting to it. Any ideas on any of this? A diagram would be greatly appreciated.
