Problem With Ford Expedition mileage counter?

Hi everybody

i have a 2000 ford expedition ,my problem is that the mileage counter is not working & not lighted up, is there any alternative ways i can measure the mileage of this car

and if had to change the mileage counter , does this counter comes standalone or i should change the whole dashboard???

The electronic odometer and trip meter went out in my Explorer and the cost of replacing it was ridiculous. The speedometer still works fine and I just can't justify replacing the instrument cluster for this minor inconvenience.
Check with your local dealer for the cost to replace this on your Expedition - you might want to bring a chair so you can be seated when you get the estimate.
