So i have a laptop that is a couple years old. When i bought it i never intended it to be used for the internet. Out of curiosity i have tried to connect it by a wireless net work in the past and it has never worked. We just got a new wireless router today and successfully connected a desk top to it with no problem. I have an extra adapter and installed it on the laptop. The adapter is a "Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter" I installed the soft wear with it and it installed correctly. It detects our routers signal and has a very good connection signal to it. But the problem is when i try to connect to it, my computer says that i "cannot acquire the net work address." It also says "this network did not assign a net work address to the computer" I see this is a common problem when i googled for help, but no situation on there is specific enough to where it works for me.
