apparently the store that had just opened up near my house [the one i bought the wireless USB internet device from and returned] set up their credit card machine to send money to another company and not cricket. so what did they do? they double charged anyone who had used a credit card there, and now the manager wont take my calls, hides in the back when i show up, and all i get is that its not their problem that they illegally charged me without my consent. They tell me to take it up with the company who originally got the money.

any ideas on who i could call to get past this store manager? the people on the 1800 nuraber dont have any knowledge of what going on at the individual stores, so where do i go from here?

Heres a suggestion, if you're seeking help ask for it. Don't downgrade other peoples experiences with the carrier they choose or you will find your posts moved to the provider rant forum :)

I was explaining the situation and what i had been through so far, and asking for help. I didn't know there was a rant portion of the forum. But since people do take things seriously in this section i wanted to post here for honest answers.
i apologize if it seemed too much.

You're best luck is to deal with the store, the 800 nuraber at cricket more than likely won't get any resolution. Thats why they are a discount carrier.

As to your original post, the title "cricket is a joke" is usually how threaRAB begin that turn into fights around here ;)

plus, independent stores are not "Cricket" themselves. they are independently owned and operated. they are "contracted" to carry cricket products and services, and Cricket does not provide a merchant service for them. If they double billed you, it was the independent shop and not Cricket

:^/ Talk to your credit card company. Let them do the heavy-handed stuff for you; they've got more muscle and experience at such stuff.

Totally agree with Mr._Pseudonym: I work for a major credit card company. All you have to do is call your credit card company on back of the card. Tell them that you got double charged by a Merchant/Business and you would like to remove one of those charges (also known as a chargeback).

I imagine since you were In-store purchasing the item you have a receipt. On that receipt is a approval code/nuraber. That is the transaction you want to keep. Tell the customer service representative that the transaction with that approval code is the one you need to keep and the other neeRAB to be reversed.

If they are good at what they do they will inform you that the transaction was reversed and the money should reflect on your account immediatly and with-in a couple days you will recieve an Alpha-David form that you need to sign and send back to the credit card company.

Don't worry this is normal procedure. All it is, is that your signing to confirm that it was not a legitamite charge.

In the end your bank will fight with the Merchant/Business to get there money back and trust me, any bank has enough muscle to get it.....LOL

yeah the store is likely a independant dealer for cricket.
let me make sure i have this straight: you purchased equipment (USB modem) on your credit card from 'independant dealer'. there are two charges on your credit card from 'independent dealer' for the same amount (double charge).
are both charges closed out? or is one of them just an authorization charge?
how long has it been? this may be an issue with your bank, and not even with the dealer. some banks will incorrectly close out the charge as a seperate transaction from the original authorization. it will take some time for the authorization to clear off your account (up to a month on AMEX but most banks it will be less than a week.)

if it does turn out that the dealer double charged you then you should definately contact your bank to dispute the charge. all you have to do is let them know you were charged twice. most banks will see the double charge and immediately credit you back, either way you will not be responsible to pay the charge until the dispute is resolved.
also if the dealer double charged you and refuses to talk to you or answer your questions you should let cricket know. they don't want dealers screwing over customers, and even tho cricket cannot help you this time other than possible talking to the dealer themselves, they will attempt to correct the situation going forward for others.

That has happened to me before lol, it wasnt our fault it was the banks fault i ended up just doin the refund after talkin to my credit card company and havin a written agreenment that i had him signed when i returned him cash.
BTW im using the broadband usb modem right now i love it :D is fast, and is supposed to get faster when they officially launch in houston sept 21.
LOL @ why you cant use xxx phone on cricket

simple3 is right CrayakRisen: If those charges just happened and are still pending then its easier for the bank to reverse the charge. How long has it been?

*Sidenote:If your card is a Visa/Mastercard debit checkcard then you might have to wait for the charges to post on your account in order for you to reverse it. Some banks will reverse pending authorizations to free up that money but if the Merchant still senRAB it through then you will be charged for it. Which general rule of thurab is three days.

Now If its an actual credit card and its still pending which it should be if it was within the last three days then i would say bottom line, no worries. Call them reverse the charge and your money will be returned to you immediatly.

Thanks for the info, ive never had to deal with a chargeback before and will be calling my credit card co. today.

What happened was the credit swipe machine was [told to me by one of the sales men as i was walking out pretty mad] that it was set up with the wrong tax ID nuraber. All the funRAB they received from the card machine went to Fannie May, and not the store, so his boss just had it switched and charged all the card transactions again =[.
so yes, on my statement i have 1 charge from Fannie May for the purchase of the USB modem and activation, 1 credit for the return of the device, and 1 charge for the same amount originally from Cricket Comm Retail. no charges pending.
again i apologize about my initial intent, i was pretty mad when i posted it. this is a very helpful forum.

i have to just agree with what has been said here time and time again...

call your CC company...

i created an account with cricket over the phone and paid with a credit card...the account activation failed, but the card was charged...after cricket's many reassurances that the transaction would automatically be remolved because their system "cannot" process a charge without creating an account, the charge still remained on my CC statement 1 month 2 weeks later...

i called cricket and they said that they could do nothing because there was no account associated with the charge...lol

then, i called my CC company, explained the situation and they instantly credited the money back to me...i filled out a form that they mailed, and they jacked it right back from cricket...

i'm glad to see that you have changed your outlook...lol
