I have bought a Nokia 6280 and the problem I am facing is that in the address book I have the option to organize the contach by first name first or last name first, but if I organize the list by putting first name first then I can search for a contact by first name only and vise-a-versa i.e. if I organize the contacts by last name first then I can search by last name only. If the phone book is organized with first name first and then I search by the last name of the contact (I dont remember the first name) then the phone book does not display the name.

Before this phone I had with me a Nokia N70, XDA II and never faced such a problem as mentioned above. Infact generally I think even if we put a part of the name of the contach then the phone book should display the name of the contact, this happens in microsoft outlook. for eg. in Outlook if the name of a person is stored by gaurav jain and I search for "rav" only then the phone book diplays the name of all the contacts having "rav" in them.

Can anyone help me and let me know if there is some settings which need to be changed to rectify the above? Also can anyone tell me if the above is normal for this phone or it is something wrong with my phone.

Also in my phone book there is no entry for the name of the company of a contact. if this also normal?

Hoping for a reply to my post from anyone who can help.

With most nokia's when ya do a search in the phone book it only takes the letters and compares them to the first letters in the name (last or first name, depends what you have set) So this would be why your having this problem. I've never used a 6280 so i could be wrong, but with most nokia's thats the way it works.
