Problem roaming in SFO using Portland Cricket

I have a 50$ account on Cricket and put money in the flex bucket. I am now in San Francisco and had to change my EVDO PRL to a cricket roaming PRL to attach to Verizon. Now each time I call, Verizon routes my call to a separate operator that wants to charge me on a credit card for calls. Anyone know why Verizon can't figure out I am with Cricket? My NAM name is set to "Cricket" and other settings on my 6700 seem ok (not that I am an expert).

by the way, I found free wifi to manage to send this in the westfeild mall... nice place.

Thanks,
Ylian

i ask because its hard to know who is what around here.

in most employee forums, authorized dealers and corporate get into big fights lol.

hmm, i see that on the web site now, i'll send it up the chain for clairification. actually you have to have a roaming option on your account otherwise the roaming will not work properly. once your bucket minutes are used extra minutes are indeed $0.39 each paid out of the flex bucket of course.

i'm not sure what it shows in portland (due to the slightly different plan availability) but our in store plans do indicate you must have a roaming option put on the account for it to work.

a very few core markets may still have the ROM feature which will still be attached to a $5 flex bucket monthly deposit tied to your bill. otherwise you will have to have a roaming bucket on the account.

yea i don't get it....

50$ a month + 5$ for flex bucket ie roaming
55$ a month for 100 minutes of roaming + 5 for internet

I don't understand why they wouldn't allow roaming by default. then turn it off if you have an empty flex bucket or didn't request it.

1) the oregon markets are not 100% leap owned, they are part of a joint venture and the partner their does not want to eat roaming costs on the $55 and $60 plans, so those plans are not available to him. also, $50 plan includes Unlimited 411 DA calls ($3 add on to $55) and call forwarding ($5, most people could live without it.)

2) as far as why? i have no idea. I would love this, my line does not work out of area, and i would gladly pay the roaming charges (per minute) to take emergency calls from stores and the alarm company who do not have my other nuraber on file. it may have something to do with reducing overhead due to billing requests from roaming partners or something who knows.. more likely its to try to generate additional revenue from people that do not use all their minutes every month (the discounted roaming relies on that) that's just how it is and you don't have to like it.

I'm having a hell of a time adjusting my plan. I couldn't imagine what customers deal with who aren't used to all this complicated stuff.

For the OP, try the 5044 PRL, or post what PRL you got in oregon. I had a 7344 or something like that, and it always requested a CC to make a call.

the reason you are having trouble is because you are making it complicated. here is how your typical customer interaction goes:

cust: Hi i'd like to add roaming to my cricket phone
rep: ok, i can do that for you. we have a few different packages available for that. you can change your monthly plan to $60 a month for 200 roaming minutes and keep your unlimited usage in the cricket calling area. or $55 for 100 minutes with unlimited usage in the cricket calling area. Or you can keep your current plan and add one or more roaming buckets to your account. $15 for 120 minutes, $10 for 70 minutes, $5 for 30 minutes. once you use your minutes, extra minutes are available for $.39 each payed out of your flex bucket.

THAT'S IT!! it's simple. stop making it so hard. there is not a way for either of you (being in SD and portland markets) to add any other kind of roaming. oh and once again the oregon markets do not have the $55 and $60 plan options, only the buckets.

because i don't want to pay extra to be able to roam :)

i want 50 a month, and the ability to log into the website, put 10 bucks into my flex account, and roam when i drive through LA.

like i said before. it is what it is, and you don't have to like it. i want a lot things, and a lot of those things i don't want to pay for either.

simple I need your help.

I have 5$ flex pay on my account, but I get the 1040 PRL during roaming. Is that normal?

Features : $0 Calling Feature: VM, CALL ID, CALL WT, 3 WAY, CALL FWD, $5 Flex Bucket, 3 Way Calling, Call Waiting, Caller ID, DAT Default, Dom Text Messaging, Free UDA promotion, Free WAP, National Extended Calling Area, Paperless Billing, Picture Messaging, Unlimited Long Distance, Voice Mail

I KEEP TELLING YOU!!! the $5 flex bucket option does not give you roaming!!! it just puts $5 into your flex bucket every month. I have confirmed with my rep over and over that you do indeed need to have a roaming option (or plan) to be able to roam. there is only like 2-5 markets left in the country that have the old $5 ROM feature which is roaming along with a flex bucket deposit. San Diego is not one of them.
