Problem installing APKs

The problem is I can't anymore. I'm using Astro and when I get to the confirm install screen for any APK, it just goes black and then back to the confirm install screen. Any thoughts?
 
Well I've tried a few app managers and no luck. I can't imagine what the problem could be. Are their any caches I need to clear that would help?
 
in settings press applications, manage application, download manager, then clear any data/cache and press uninstall update if that option is there. then the same for the package installer. good luck!
 
I tried APK Installer, no luck. I also tried clearing the download manager cache, no luck. Not sure if this matters but anytime I try installing an APK, even thru an APK installer, package installer ends up trying to install it.
 
Usually when you use apkinstaller it gives you a choice of package installer or apkinstaller. Go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications> then go to astro and apkinstaller and see if there is an option to clear defaults, if so clear the defaults, reboot and try again.
 
None of those apps have a default to clear. I'm not getting any error messages. Is it possible a system process needs a cache cleared?
 
That would show up in a logcat. I would say try downloading Log Collector (the free one)... but... if you can't install apps that's going to be a problem.

Does it do this for all APKs or just that one?

Do you have enough internal storage space free on your phone?
 
I'm really out of ideas except for a factory reset. If you decide to go that route you can use astro to backup your free apps and when you sign back into google you will be able to redownload your paid apps. Maybe some one else will chime in, I've never had that problem on either of my G1's, my N1 or my Samsung Behold II.
 
It happens with all APKs, no matter what size they are. I have plenty of space left on the SD and phone. I can install Market apps no problem.

Logcat has a red error saying, Couldn't copy package file to temp file. Maybe if I delete my temp directory it will recreate it?
 
i have a semifunctioning g1 that i revived from death. it can not boot into recovery, or install any .apk files. the only thing that it installs is the dreaimg.apk through the bootloader. it downloads the .apks fine, just wont install an apk. no errors, force closes, or anything. ive tried to install apk's in every way imaginable, it just wont take. for me, i think either part of the motherboard has burned out or something has burned out.
