Problem | Belkin Routers and G1 wifi

Ran a search and it looks as if several people are having problems connecting to Belkin Routers. Not sure if this is the right cat to post this in. It seems that folks using Pre N can connect, however I am using a Belkin G and cannot connect. I've reset my passphrase, still nothing. It picks up the network, but doesn't connect.

I figured we could start a list of Belkin Routers not working and maybe some smart one can figure out the problem...I just lack the time to figure it out.

So..if your using a Belkin Router, please say which router, and if you can connect or not using wifi.

Belkin Wireless G Mimo Router - no connect

I have a Belkin N and it was working well until the whole 3G service went to crap. Once 3G came back on I had a hard time connecting and it successfully connected once but then it lost the connection...while I was in the bathroom about 60ft or so away from the router itself, will let you know how it works tonight when I go home.

Wireless G Plus MIMO - WPA encryption. Works fine. I did have problems connecting to the guest wireless network at work using WEP. After getting the update for the G1 this morning i had no problem with WEP connections either. Pre update I would get disconnected at home while charging. That is also better.

setting up the router was a pain and spent an hour or so on the phone with the belkin guy (who was very nice, by the way) but now i have a good strong signal and it works all around the house no problem..
i have a mimo g plus by the way..

update...i was finally able to connect using wpa-psk (no server)...i reset the password so im not sure if that had anything to do with it. posting this from my g1...sweet....

i have a belkin N and i had no problem, all i did was go to the router setting ( u kno type in the router IP address) and i typed in my G1 IP address and accepted on the router and ever since then, i come home 3g turns into wireless and stays like that til i leave.

and i use wpa to connect

I have a N1 Vision and I'm afraid it doesn't work with the G1.

The g1 just says wifi not in range (when all my other devices pick it up)

Its on wpa/wpa2 with tikip/aes, no mac locking, bandwith tried both the 20mhz and the 20mhz+40

mitch

not sure if this will help you guys but i have a belkin F5D7230-4 v9000
i spent about two hours wondering why my g1 would connect to my wifi but i could not open web pages
after being half a "C" hair away from breaking my router and g1 i remembered that i had set mac address blocking a couple months back so i added my g1's mac address and it worked instant wifi

I have the same problem. Will not stay connected. What can I do? T mobile was useless they said mail my phone back and when I had A Tracking # they would ship me a new G1. I am very discouraged. Please help me.........

i have a belkin wireless n router with wpa and i connect fine. i have 5 devices that are connected to it and ive never had a problem (only when downloading a few torrents). do you have the newest firmware? I also use open DNS

I had had the same problem with my Belkin G. Had another wireless router from BT which I tried, and would connect, but every now and then would lose connection. So went back to the Belkin G and tried to figure out what was going on. Ended up changing most settings, but in the end just changing the channel number worked! Now can connect and always have a stable connection.

I have issues using my Belkin Wireless N (wpa/aes)

It'll connect, then the packets seem to drop like a rock after a few minutes.

The one I have is: http://s3.gadgetreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/belkin-n-wireless-router.jpg

Had these problems (well, mainly the one characterised by if you did 'ping google.com' in a terminal the latency would increase and increase before eventually dropping all packets altogether... same for all sites, apps, etc.)...

...but, lucky me, i've managed to fix mine!

I've got a Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless ADSL2 Modem Router (model F5D9630-4 ver.1101uk), and I've updated to the beta firmware from belkin.com/uk's website.

Supposedly this model is the same as the 3xxx series in the rest of Europe (same model code tho), so you may want to try that if you have exactly the same router as me.

That said, a word of caution. Its unsupported, and the new configuration system is as neurotic as a box of kittens.

Use the backup settings facility before you update. Not to restore them automatically (it doesn't work), but to dig through the configuration file yourself in a text editor for e.g. when you realise that the nice new firmware has new default VCI and VPI values (which you never changed in the original) which now don't work.

That said, i'm quite pleased with myself now. before i was using a rube goldberg-esque setup involving an ancient and quite tempermental router, to my laptop, IP Masquerading set up there, across the wireless, to the real router... yeah.

^^^^ link of the pre-release firmware download.

Its only the European model! (There was some new 5xxx firmware there on the site anyway that said)

Belkin Router - FAIL

F5D8233-4 N Wireless Router (same as in pic above) with WPA-PSK:
Belkin Wireless Router Version : 3.01.17

Appears to connect, but it's lying to me - nothing opens. On WEP, it would work for a minute or so then drop. My Eee PC connects wirelessly with no problem.
