I have a 1995 Ford Probe 2.0 DOHC automatic. I bought the car not running. Was told by the seller that it needed a water pump and head gasket. Replaced them and the timing belt. Reset the timing and put in new spark plugs. After putting it back together the car would only start with the gas pedal all the way to the floor while cranking, after a few seconds at part throttle it idled on its own. Let it run for about 30-45 min. Will not start since. Determined that the engine was running rich. And by rich i mean there was pools of gas on top the pistons. After trying to restart the car off and on for a few days i did a cooling system pressure check, system held pressure for an hour. After that i did a compression check. cyl. 1 120, cyl. 2 90, cyl. 3 60, cyl. 4 90. added oil to the cylinders and rechecked the compression, cyl. 1 150, cyl. 2 120, cyl. 3 90, cyl. 4 110. i do not believe that the head gasket has blown again, atleast i havent seen anything to make me think so ie coolant in a cylinder. I am at my wits end. Fuel pressure sits at 42 psi while cranking. timing light indicates that the plug is firing at 12 DBTDC. Somebody please help me!!!!!!!
I have checked the timing multiple times and it is correct. the car has direct port fuel injection.
there is no camshaft position sensor. spec for the fuel pressure is 35-40 psi. 2psi over should not cause the type of flooding im getting. i have pulled the injectors and they do dont squirt unless the engine is cranking, and they do pulse.
