DWP and working links- what happens when they fail?
I've just finished a year on probation as my work knife was classed as a bladed article because it locked. Whilst on probation the probation services failed to bring it to my attention that there was an 'OLASS' scheme that could help me back into employment via working links- who as it happens are under the DWP remit. I have the majority of the working links service agreement and it doesn't say anywhere that they should hinder people or to withhold information and referrals until probation orders expire.
I believe the probation service in Mansfield have colluded to my detriment as they didn't refer me when they said they had- two weeks ago (or more) and cancelled appointments in order to let my order lapse so that I wouldn't get the assistance.
As probation and NOMS are all about rehabilitation and pushing criminals onto and into the community- you'd have thought they would want to help people take up work- not hinder them.
What would you do if you had proof of this happening?
Also do you think it fair for a probation officer to advise someone to bend wish their employers wishes when asked to break the law?
I was whingeing about employers constantly trying to get me to break the law and he told me that I ought to bend a little- so this in effect is my probation officer advising me to break the law- isn't it?
Do you think this is right?
Knowing the DWP are spending taxpayers money when they give contracts to workinglinks- do you think that working links should actually be doing the job they are paid to do and keep to the remit proscribed in their service agreement?
If you want the service agreement- I'll paste it in on request.
