ive been reading a lot about this proactive acne treatment and i wanted to hear what everyone who uses this product thinks about it. the website seems very convincing to me and i might think about ordering it.(good thing im a kid and my parents pay for this stuff). but yea also my parents fault (damn genetic crap) anyways...

has this worked for anyone?

Proactive? I have a love-hate relationship with this stuff. I used it religiously for 4 years with super results. I am now 41 and I beleive i have actually built up a resistance towarRAB this regimen....it simply does not work anymore for me. Perhaps my chemical make up has changed....i dunno. Proactive people tell me stress is the cause...they're not gonna tell me that their stuff stops working. So here I am searching this site for new ideas and helping others with old ones. May we all find the healthy balance we are looking for!:)

Don't waste your time. Its totally ineffective- at least for me. Also for two months now. I'm waiting for them to give me my money back.

Take accutane- its not the wonderdrug its sometimes represented as, but it will at least reduce your acnes severity.

Well, I tried Proactive and it didn't work for me - only made me break out more which lead to another trip to my doctor and more medication BUT...I do have to say that they were fair about the money back policy and I returned the product and got a refund. ALSO - my girlfriend used the product and it worked really well for her - she still gets a few pimples sometimes but not as badly as she did before. I guess my advice is to try it and see what happens! Best of luck :)

My cousin and a friend of mine BOTH have had wonderful results with Proactive. I recently ordered the products and have been using them for 2 days now. My cousin said it took a week for her to notice a huge difference in her skin so I will come back with an update on myself in about a week. Just remeraber that everyone is different and it may work great for you or it may not. Don't take one person's word for it, just give it a try if you want to. Good luck!

all proactive is......an exfoliating BP face wash, a glycolic toner, and a 2.5% BP repairing lotion. The people who've had success with proactive usually haven't tried much else. Try the Neutrogena 2.5% BP cream, along with an exfoliator like St. Ives apricot scrub, and use a glycolic product. See how this works for you before you shell out the money on proactive. It's essentially the same thing.

Proactiv works for me

i take minocin to control my acne a bit from the inside and corabat my acne with proactiv on the outside.

I've had bad acne before and tried using accutane.

If I were you, I'd leave out the St. Ives Apricot Scrub (for reasons mentioned above). You DO need exfoliation, but the Neutrogena Clear Pore (which I've heard good things about :)) should be exfoliating chemically with beta hydroxy aciRAB. If you feel like you need a manual exfoliant, I would suggest Sage grains or Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.

I would also ditch that Neutrogena so-called "Acne Cleanser." It is way too harsh for most skins, and will just irritate the skin and dry it out way too much, which will cause your skin to respond with even more oil. It also contains fragrance, which could be irritating your skin. I know it did to mine! You could try a more gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil or (my favorite) Purpose Moisturizing Foaming Cleanser. Both are much more gentle and do not contain fragrance. They will allow your skin to "heal," instead of being borabarded by harsh chemicals.

I'm not sure about the MD forte. I've never tried the stuff.

I'm no expert, but these are just my ideas. Hope this helps some! :round:

I use St ives apricot scrub and it seems to be keeping me pretty clear, don't knock it too badly. you're only supposed to use the cleanser gently so that you don't cut your skin badly, although I have never experienced cuts from it.

laters.

ProActiv took a couple of months to work for me. Actually close to 6 months... at first the scrubbies made my skin red, that doesn't happen anymore. now my face is much better. i use it when i shower in the morning and when i go to bed at night, and on hot/humid days i use it sometime in the middle of the day if i'm oily/dirty. i think it's worth the money because it lasts longer than the 2 months it's supposed to, and it's delivered right to your house in a few weeks so you never run out of stuff when you need it. good luck. :)

and... how many times a day would i wash my face using all of these products...

doesn't it seem like all of this would irritate my skin?

Instructions on how to use proactiv:

1.) Use a dime size amount of the cleanser and you rub gently and I used to do it for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water

2.) Apply toner

3.) Apply dime size amount of repairing lotion

I hope that helps!

For me, it really didn't work any better than a just using a typical acne treatment. At first, my skin cleared up a bit, but I seemed to build upan immunity rapidly, and it became pretty ineffectual. There are similar regimens like the Neutrogena kit, Acne Free, and a few others that are pretty similar to Proactive but cheaper. You might want to try one or more of those before splurging on the real thing.

DID WONDERS FOR ME.... I HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF NOW. I USED TO HAVE RED BLOTCHY SKIN ALL DAY AND GET NASTY BREATKOUTS DAILY. BUT SINCE I HAVE BEEN USING THE PROACTIV, THE RED IS GONE AND MOST DAYS I GO WITHOUT MAKEUP. IF ANYTHING I JUST COVER UP A SPOT OR TWO. BUT I ONLY USE THE CLEASER AND THE TONER. THE REPAIRING LOTION IS TOO STRONG FOR ME. IF ANYTHING I'LL USE IT ON ONE PIMPLE OVER NIGHT ONCE IN A WHILE. IF I USE IT ALL OVER, OR IN A FULL AREA, MY FACE GETS BURNED.

I HAVE TRIED NEUTROGENA, OXY-WHATEVER, CLEARASIL, CLEAN AND CLEAR, ALPHAHYDROXY STUFF... AND I'M ONLY 19. THIS IS THE BEST I CAN GET WITHOUT A PRESCRIPTION. AND I FIND IN THAT ONE BOX U GET EVERY 2 MONTHS, YOU CAN ACTUALLY CALL AND TELL THEM TO SEND YOU 2 CLEANSERS AND A TONER, OR JUST 3 CLEANSERS CUZ THE TONER LASTS FOREVER. ALSO U CAN HAVE THEM MAIL U UR NEXT SHIPMENT EVERY 6 MONTHS INSTEAD OF 2. YOU PAY PER SHIPMENT, NOT PER MONTH AS A MErabER. VERY HELPFUL. UNFORTUNATELY THEY DO NOT TELL YOU THIS IN THE BEGINNING. LOL. GOOD LUCK ALL.

It didnt work for me, it made me breakout in places where i never had acne. Before it was just on my lower cheeks/jawline.. now its all over my face/neck.. i found it horrible and it dried me out so much

It kinda worked for me,no dramatic differences but it was allright, give it a try cuz it might just be right for you

Good luck
