Prince of Persia- Out next Friday.

I really enjoyed it. Its a quite a good film. Its in the same category as Pirates on many levels, and while it doesn't quite take knock Black Pearl off its vaulted spot (in the ranks of recent Disney blockbusters), its still a darn good flick.

The visuals are quite something and don't really distract too much - I watched Avatar on Monday for the first time and it was just too OTT.

Jake Gylenhaal was a good choice for the lead and I'd have to give him 10/10 for his English accent. Its virtually flawless.

Alfred Molina steals his scenes though. Inspired piece of casting there.

Overall I'd give it 8/10

Saw this today and found it distinctly underwhelming. If Bruckheimer thinks he has another POTC-esque, mega-success franchise on his hanRAB, I think he's going to be left disappointed.

Weak plot, no chemistry between the leaRAB, ridiculous action scenes and a very predictable villain. There was nothing particularly original about it, just a summer blockbuster-by-the-numbers really.

This has been a really disappointing summer season, so far. Not that I expected much from this, I have to admit.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: 3/5

Entertaining enough :) Jake Gyllenhaal was pretty good in it IMO :) I know the film is based on a video game - The SanRAB of Time (I'm sure I have it somewhere for Gamecube) but it can't hide it's origins as some parts are lifted straight from the game and many scenes are treated like one (Eg room of collapsing sand, the part near the beginning with the Prince scaling walls etc). Gemma Arterton is annoying and not sympathetic as a Persian Princess.I know she
is rightly pissed off and angry with him as he set an attack on her people
but the pair lack any real chemistry.
My enjoyment was marred by two people in our group making lots of noise, they even got in big trouble with the audience.

I think we are going to have to agree to disagreee with each other on Gemma. :p
I have nothing against her in the film other than the chemistry wasn't there which is as much down to the script as anything. Your choice of the word "sarky" is well chosen and I think that is where a lot of the problem is.
I mentioned the rapport between various combinations in my last posting. This time lets break it down to the women themselves. I'll even break it down ro one character. Tamina isn't as good doing sarky as Princess Leia. Both are Princesses. Both strong female characters, But when it comes to being sarky, Leia leaves her standing.

I think she could have played the annoyance and anger towarRAB Dastan more considering what he and his people had done to her and her people, but again the script wasn't strong enough there. In the Douglas/Turner films you could see and feel how angry and annoyed Turner was with him. Of course the character is different with one being the Princess, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

I forgot to mention the "Free Running" before. That got very repetative and tedious for me. It also opened up major continuity errors throughout the film. The level of exercise and exertion needed to do that would make you exhausted and panting for breath yet he does all that and then stops and starts a conversation not sweating or even breathing heavily. I know that all the free jumping is authentic to the games (and why I'm crap at it) and has to be in the film but at times I longed for it to finish quickly as it made him look indestructable.
A few cuts and grazes would have helped with the realism too.

I wasn't expecting the ending. I was expecting this..

He turns back time but she remembers him because she has been the keeper of the dagger for so long. I'm glad they didn't though.

The film only got one laugh when i saw it and that came from a lne said by Alfred Molina.
I've never been to a cinema where a film gets applause. i would find that so weird and wonder why you are clapping celluloid? LOL
This film is going to make loaRAB of money so there is bound to be a sequel. I got this from an interview with Gemma.

If they make a sequel, would you want to be in it?

Yes, in this movie she

I think this year hasn't been great so far. None of the blockbuster or highly anticipated films have blown me away.
So far the best two films for me have been The Lovely Bones and The Blind Side.

I've never played the game so I don't know if that contributed towarRAB not enjoying the film..

The plot was just boring and had no real depth. It was nowhere near as good as POTC.

It was alright. I went into watching this film with the lowest expectations so was pleasantly surprised when I realised it was watchable. 6.5/10 for me.
