This thread is about notable stars of prime-time programs that were also heard in various Saturday morning cartoons, over the years. I might as well add as a footnote that some Saturday morning cartoons that feature some of the voice-over cast of their prime-time counterparts, if not all, including The New Adventures of Gilligan, The Dukes, Fonz & The Happy Days Gang, Laverne & Shirley in the Army, Mork & Mindy, The Brady Kids, Emergency + 4, It's Punky Brewster, etc.- well, you get that idea. Now, getting back to the topic of the thread, I'm going to start with Jim Henson's Muppet Babies- Howie Mandel was the first Baby Animal, and was co-starring on NBC's St. Elsewhere, before Dave Coulier of Full House fame, took over for Howie as Animal in season three. Dave also took over for Lorenzo Music as Peter Venkman for the second season of The Real Ghostbusters, and speaking of that very program, Arsenio Hall, for two years, was Winston Zeddmore. This is my personal favorite, before he was Uncle Phil on Fresh Prince of Bel Air, James Avery was the original voice of the villainous Shredder on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There's more- Jonathan Winters of Mork & Mindy fame, was Grandpa Smurf, starting in the sixth season of The Smurfs. Don Most of Happy Days fame, as Eric the Cavalier on Dungeons and Dragons and Styles on Teen Wolf. Joan Van Ark of Knots Landing fame, portrayed the title role in DePatie-Freleng's incarnation of Marvel Comics' Spider-Woman in 1979. Ron Palillo, from Welcome Back, Kotter, in the title role of Ruby-Spears' Rubik, the Amazing Cube. William Conrad, from Cannon and Jake & the Fatman, in the title role of Filmation's The Lone Ranger as well as being the narrator of Rocky & Bullwinkle. I think you pretty much have the idea of prime-time celebrities in Saturday morning cartoons, so without delay, start chiming in, as long as it's relevant to the topic of the thread.

Ron Palillo was also the voice of Laverne & Shirley's porcine DI in their cartoon.

Also, how can you forget:

Mr. T (DUH!)
Jaleel White (Family Matters) as Sonic the Hedgehog
John Schneider (post-Dukes, pre-Smallville) in the Mummy animated series. In fact, Rick (Brendan Fraser in the movies) was redesigned to fit Schneider!

John Astin reprised his role as Gomez for the 90's Addams Family cartoon, as well as Rip Taylor playing Fester.

For the 70's animated series, Jackie Coogan and Ted Cassiday returned to play Fester and Lurch, while Jodie Foster voiced Pugsley.

Christopher Daniel Barnes (Prince Eric; Greg in the Brady Bunch movies) voiced Fox's Spider-Man, while Ed Asner played Jonah Jameson.

And who could forget Vincent Price playing Vincent Van Ghoul on the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo?

There we go, but you're right- there are too many prime-time celebrities to mention that were also heard on Saturday morning cartoons over the years. I'll add a several more:

Brad Garrett, later of Everybody Loves Raymond, portrayed Hulk Hogan in Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n Wrestling.

Alan Rachins, from L.A. Law and Dharma & Greg, as Temple Fugate, the Clock King, in Fox's The Adventures of Batman & Robin.

Ed Asner, from Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant, as J. Jonah Jameson on Spider-Man and as Gargoyle Hudson in Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.

Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame and a few prime-time programs, as Cyborg in the 13th season of The Superfriends.

Ted Knight, from both Mary Tyler Moore and Too Close for Comfort, as narrator of the 1st season of The Superfriends, Filmations's Lassie's Rescue Rangers, both in 1973 and various other cartoon series, during the late 1960's.

Jim Backus portraying the voice of Thurston Howell III in both of Filmation's incarnations of Gilligan and as Mr. Magoo in DePatie-Freleng's What's New, Mr. Magoo?

Mindy Cohn, The Facts of Life's Natalie Greene, as Velma Dinkley in Warner Bros.' What's New, Scooby-Doo?

There's lots more to get to, so feel free to chime in.

Marty Ingels, one of the stars of I'm Dickens, He's Fenster, is better known as the voice of Pac-Man.

Gary Coleman, star of Diff'rent Strokes, had his telefilm The Kid with the Broken Halo adapted to a Saturday morning cartoon.

Patty Maloney, a recurring cast member on the Donny & Marie variety show, was the voice of Darla Hood in Hanna-Barbera's version of The Little Rascals.

Mr. T starred in his own Saturday morning cartoon show in addition to starring in The A-Team.

Pat Harrington Jr. of One Day at a Time fame, voiced the Atom in Filmation's DC heroes cartoons in the late 1960's- he was also Inspector Clouseau on The Pink Panther Show..

Allan Melvin from Gomer Pyle and All in the Family as Magilla Gorilla, Pumpkin Puss as well as Bluto in Hanna-Barbera's Popeye cartoons on CBS in the late 1970's.

June Lockhart of Lassie and Lost in Space fame, was Mrs. Day on Hanna-Barbera's animated family drama, These are the Days.

Bill Fagerbakke, from Coach, was heard on CBS' Beethoven as well as ABC's Dumb & Dumber animated comedy series(I'll start a thread on cartoons with higher comedy standards, later). BTW, he was also Gargoyle Broadway on Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.

Tim Daly, from Wings, in the title role of Superman.

Hector Elizondo, from Chicago Hope, as Ioz on Pirates of Dark Water.

John Vernon, from various prime-time programs, in the title role of Wildfire and as Batman villain, Rupert Thorne.

Richard Moll, from Night Court, as Two-Face on The Adventures of Batman & Robin.

Ronnie Schell, from The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, as Rick Raccoon on NBC's Shirt Tales.

Marvin Kaplan, from Alice, as Choo Choo on Top Cat.

There's still plenty to get to, through this thread, so please continue to chime in.

I'm surprised nobody's made any mention of Jason Alexander, yet.

If I recall, he was the voice of Klasky-Csupo's Duckman AND he was also the voice of Abys-Mal in Disney's Aladdin: the Animated Series.

We'll take Jason Alexander, from Seinfeld, as Abys-Mal on Disney's Aladdin on CBS. At the same time, we'll add a several more, since this is a very active thread.

Shavar Ross, from Diff'rent Strokes, as Mork's friend, Eugene, on Mork & Mindy.

Jonathan Frakes, from Star Trek: The Next Generation, as the semi-greedy David Xanatos on Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.

Peri Gilpin, from Frasier, as Superman villainess, Volcana.

Don Adams, from Get Smart, in the title role of Tennessee Tuxedo.

Dana Delany, from China Beach, as Lois Lane on Superman.

Joe Campanella, from Mannix, as Dr. Curt Conners on Spider-Man and as the Road Rovers commander.

Please keep those thoughts coming, because there's lots more.

Marvin Miller, who played Michael Anthony on "The Millionaire", voiced Aquaman and was the narrator on the short pre- and post-commercial bits on the Pink Panther series.

It's THAT Tim Daly? I never made the connection.

Virtually the entire TNG cast was on Gargoyles at some point. I think the only exceptions were Patrick Stewart who returned to theatrical production for a time after TNG and Gates McFadden who returned to production work.

I know Michael Dorn is doing a current TV Animated Series character, but I am drawling a blank on what it is. I want to say its someone on Young Justice, but don't quote me on that.

I'm sure almost everyone knows that LaVare Burton played Kwame for the entire 6 season series run while Whoopy Goldberg played Gaia for the first 3 seasons. LeVare Burton also currently plays as Warmachine on Super Hero Squad (which sounds like its now officially defunct).

@SF4Ever: Cool deal. I also forgot to make mention of Gilbert Gottfried, who voiced Iago, on Disney's Aladdin: the Animated Series (I am not mentioning Return of Jafar, since it isn't relevant to the topic at hand).

Kevin Conroy stared in Tour of Duty before becoming Batman in the DCAU.

John Austin reprises his role as Dr. Gang-Green for the Killer Tomatoes animated series.

Howie Mandel is the voice of Bobby and his dad on Bobby's World.

Tim Curry did prime time shows, but he also won an Emmy for his role of Captain Hook in Peter Pan and the Pirates.

Why don't we add Kurtwood Smith, from That 70's Show, who was also heard on Eek & the Terrible Thunderlizards as General Galapagos.

Ian Ziering from Beverly Hills 90210, starred in Sony Pictures' Godzilla: The Animated Series on Fox, as Nick Tatopoulos and in Disney's The Mighty Ducks as Wildwing Flashblade.

There's still a lot more info to add to this thread, so please continue to chime in.

Actually most of the Main cast from the Next Generaion was somewhere in Gargoyles. Mirina Sirtis was Demona, Brent Spiner was puck, they even worked Michael Dorn into an episode. He was a cyborg gargoyle named Coldstone.

Cree Summer, starring on A Different World, also co-starred as Elmyra Duff on Tiny Toon Adventures.

In addition to his stints on both the live-action and animated incarnations of The Addams Family, John Astin was also Bull Gator on Taz-Mania.

Rene Auberjonois, from Benson, was also Kalibak on The Superfriends.

There's lots more information, so continue to chime in.
