Prevent screen from locking while playing music.

Is there a way to do this? I'd prefer to not have to unlock my G1 while driving because I want to change songs.

Unless I'm G1 stupid (which is entirely possible, since I just got it yesterday), and there's a way to control my playlist by using some button I don't know about? I could control songs on my old Blackberry by hitting 6 to skip to the next song.

Alternatively, is it possible to completely disable the auto-screen lock and just lock the phone manually when I want to toss it in my purse?

Thanks! : )

there r a few apps out there that keep the screen on. this prevents the screen from locking. u could also just go to settings and set ur screen/display to never sleep

Thanks, but won't setting the screen to never timeout drain my battery extra fast? I guess I could change it to that when I'm going to be driving. It just seems like there should be a better way to take care of it.

Is the problem that the screen locks (where you have to press menu to unlock it) or that you have to enter the pattern to unlock it?

If it's the former then I don't understand the problem given your reply above. The screen would drain the battery, yes, it's one of the biggest users of battery power. But, if you had the screen off then you'd have to press some button to turn it back on - so how is that any different from pressing the Menu button to unlock it?

If it's the pattern lock, then you can turn that off either in the settings or using one of the Toggle apps that allow you to turn the Lock Screen off (such as Toggle Settings).

battery does drain...
dude idk
use a car charger
or use ur reg phone charger and buy this link

i like that ac/dc converter cus i can use other things in the car

Really, the problem is the screen locking. The pattern lock is turned off. I'd just prefer to be able to manually lock the screen whenever I want while having the screen dim to save power like it did on my BB. That way, I could just use the scroll ball to wake it up and hit the next song.

I was hoping there'd be an app out there that would take care of it for me.

Actually an app called Screen On can set it so that the screen stays on only when the music player (or any app you select) is running. A little more customizable. I would be worried that if I set the screen to stay on, as a general setting, I would forget to turn it off and it would be bye bye battery......this app might prevent that from happening as often.

i wish there was like a little remote to attach to the phone even via bluetooth that controlled the media player than i wouldn't need to wake the phone.

Great stuff. 'Screen on' is just what I wanted for keeping the screen on and keypad unlocked when charging (what's the point?)

When playing last.fm or other music player I didn't want it to lock the screen, which this does, but I do want it to dim the screen. I can then use a finger touch to undim so I can change tracks or whatever.

Anyone know an app that has this flexibility?

Keep screen is good because it keeps the screen unlocked for selected apps, but still has the option to dim the screen (although not to 'off'). But you can't choose to not lock the screen whenever charging.

Still looking for nirvana in this department

I use cool app from the market called CarMod. I believe this app do exactly what you need. It prevents screen from locking just in case you are in driving, phone is the car holder and connected to the charger.
