Pretty Cure on YTV (Canada)

If I'm not mistaken, the dub Pretty Cure started a while ago on YTV. Even though I'm a Canadian, I don't get YTV because I don't get cable (being a recent university grad and all, funRAB are limited) but I know some people like Pepperidge here get it. Would like to hear what people here think of this dub version.

I don't care for it. They Americanized the main characters names, the voices are pretty lousy, and the OP and ED are laughably bad. Oddly enough, they kept the original music, which I didn't expect.

How far has the show gotten? Is it close to the end yet? Does Ocean/Blue Water plan to dub any of the additional seasons?

Also, yes I live in the U.S., but I am curious as to how it's doing over there.

The dub is good. I mean honestly the changed names and theme songs aren't a big deal, the kept the script almost exactly the same as the Japanese.

I'll answer each of your questions:

1. Episode 25 will premiere on Saturday

2. The show is almost exactly half done (there are 49 episodes in all).

3. I wouldn't hold my breath. The show doesn't seem to have set the world on fire over there. Granted I have no idea what the actual ratings are, but considering the show debuted without really any fanfare, coupled with it's early morning slot and lack of any merchandise I've heard of, doesn't make it likely.

Is there a connection between Blue Water and Funimation (they both dubbed Dragon Ball.)

If so, is there any chance Funimation can distribute Pretty Cure on DVD in the US?

Actually, the reason why they gave it to Blue Water is because that makes Pretty Cure qualify for Canadian Content regulations, as Blue Water is a Canadian studio.

. . .

Though it may be because they're incredibly cheap too, as it is interesting they didn't give the title to Ocean Westwood or a Toronto studio.

Might have been a scheduling issue. Ocean might have been booked. Of course, Blue Water can be fine with a cast with young characters (see: Strawberry Marshmellow,) so if there are QC issues, I'd almost lean on it being an issue of a rush job rather than a talent/budget issue.

You Know Im Still FlaberGassted that Neither CW4kiRAB or CN have picked this up to air on the US. I'm not a big fan of Mahou Shojo, but to be honest I would Like to see a little of it, heck I'd like to see as much new anime on TV as possible, Just to reassure myself that anime has a future on Said Networks.

but i guess if it hasn't aired by now in the US its not gonna, meh no big deal I guess.

Having Optimum Productions dub Sailor Moon was DIC's idea, not Toei's. Either Toei or YTV personally selected Ocean to dub the show, who in turn decided to "outsource" it to Blue Water (or something like that).

I wouldn't know, really. I never looked into it. Sailor Moon is the only show that springs to mind whenever I hear the name "Optimum Productions", so I thought that was what you were referring to.

I live in Canada, and watch Pretty Cure whenever it's on. It's actually doing really well on YTV. Episodes air Mon-Thurs at 3:00pm, and Saturdays at 7:00am. New episodes premiere Thursdays at 3:00pm, with episode 26 premiering this Thursday. In the fall, it will only air Saturdays at 7am. It's a great show, catchy theme song, and people can find it online. Orignal BGM is kept, script, voices, and dubbing are great. I don't know if they will air other series, though.
