Presenting ToonZone's Top 30 Anime/Manga Characters of All Time (56k warning)

I'm tempted to scan and post that Tokita comic where Char can't understand why younger fans confuse him for Zechs, by running through all the obvious similarities (masks, legenRAB, outspoken sisters, etc).

Reinhard was #1 on my list, so I'm not to blame!

Though honestly, choosing between him and Yang is difficult. Both are geniuses, both are very interesting characters, and both are essential to the story of LoGH. In my view it's a contest between the most brilliant mind and the most charismatic leader. If one were only able to choose one of the two, I'm not sure that there's a wrong answer.

While all that is very true, i think its a hell of a lot easier to just prefer Reinhard over Yang. Mainly because, well, when they weren't fighting each other or leading armies in space, they lived in two very different worlRAB and had different problems, and while they are both great characters and are very much equals, quite frankly i found that the world Reinhard lived in was more engaging, more interesting and far more entertaining than the world Yang lived in, Reinhard's life was just more fun to watch than Yang's was, but that's just my opinion of course. Anyway, to me that easily gives Reinhard the edge when choosing between them, i just naturally prefer Reinhard.

Gotta say, that's a pretty good looking list there--many of my favorites made it, so I won't complain Luffy isn't my personal favorite, but I think he deserves the top spot for sure (and my personal favorite made the list anyway). Glad to see Lelouch fairly high; I may prefer Suzaku in the series, but Lelouch is one hell of a character for sure. Also glad to see love for Yusuke (woo for two YYH characters on the list) and Tamaki, who I just happen to adore.

What the deus? Why was SEED so high? I mean, I know Destiny didn't exist yet but ew....

and lol at the guy thinking Eva had anything to do with the bible.

Gundam doesn't work well with this type of polling system, because generally once a person selects their token Gundam show, they no longer consider any other Gundam shows for the rest of their list. I saw the same thing again when I did a top 25 of sci-fi a couple of years later... practically everyone had a Gundam show on their list, but because they all picked different shows none of them got enough points to rank (incidentally the movie trilogy got the most votes in that particular poll, may be a reflection of the awareness of more general fans as opposed to you more hardcore fans) so I ended up corabining them all, and as one category the Gundam franchise ranked very high.

I think your rejections of Gundam Seed may be reflecting a shift in tastes; it didn't come up at the time.

It's because Destiny wasn't out, if I recall in 2004. Like how the Matrix was held in much higher regard before the next 2 films came out.

Only like a bajillion times worse.

We need a five-year anniversary redo. Many people have come and gone, many favorites have changed, and many anime that would get many votes for that (Gurren Lagann, etc.) have been released in the past half-decade.
