I recently enrolled in the Master of Arts Program at Prescott College, in Prescott, Arizona. It is a small and very unique university that specializes in self-directed, experiential, distance learning. It has taken a great deal of work to be admitted, and it is expensive, relative to the public universities in Arizona. I am wondering what might be the overall perception of the school in terms of its academic reputation and quality. I don't mean to sound like an academic snob, but I could easily be admitted at many academically rich graduate programs at a traditional university, but as an adult, non-traditional student, with a career and responsibilities, I must limit my choices to either an online school, correspondence, evening, or weekend program. Of all the adult, distance learning offerings in the U.S., I felt Prescott would be best for me. However, now that I am beginning my graduate studies there, I am interested in how the school is perceived (if at all) by the academic community, students, and employers.
