Hello. I am 31 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have been with my fiancé for 4 years now and we had planned on getting married this year before we got pregnant. For right now we wanted to go to City Hall to be married. My question is, will getting married financially hurt me as far as my taxes and also any benefits I should be entitled to after the baby is born (assistance)? Would it benefit us financially to get married next year instead of this year for tax purposes? We both make around the same amount but combined we would have a combined household income of over 80k.
