Preferred Networks! can't find them

Hi everyone!
I have an unlocked Tmobile Pearl, and I am having trouble connecting to my carrier (in Paraguay).
Apparently T-mo blocks de Preferred network option in the Network section, allowing only automatic or manual search. I am not able to find my carrier manually.
Do you guys have an idea, besides changing firmwares, on how to solve this problem?
Do you guys know which firmware can I use?

Which Sim Card are you using? Local Paraguay or Tmobile? I re-read your post....On T-mobile I guess. Hmmm! I wonder if it has to do with the 850 band? Not Sure. Which Network are you on there? Try an Automatic search.
