pref DB error

I suspect this might be caused by spratting and flashing but... in both docs to go and contacts when i attemp to send a file/contact i get a terminal error ("Preferences.c, Line:271, Pref DB Open Error")

As background, I have recently spratted and flashed my T3 and had ironed out all (i thought) of the problems.

NB - I've put Docs to go into flash, and I presume that the PIM application is already in rom - so do i need to transfer this db file to flash too?

You definitely do not want to put the database in flash. Anything in flash is read only. If your database is in flash, you won't be able to add or remove anything from it, and the application will crash pretty much any time it attempts to access it.

How are you "sending" the file? IR, Bluetooth, or Versamail?

A good question Ryber - I meant to put this in my first post...

In both contact and DTG the beam option works and I can send files and contacts by IR.

Clicking on the send option causes the fatality, before being given the bluetooth/e-mail option.

Ah, could this be because I have deleted versamail from flash, and am using snappermail only???

Re; DB's in flash - thanks for confirming this fact.

Thanks Ryber, I'll get hold of Versamail again, unless PTL has navigated round this problem before????

PTL, you've taken versamail out haven't you?? did you get this problem?

I got rid of VersaMail and things are great,

IF I SEND ANYTHING it's IR only - no bluetooth. I don't "bluetooth" and I don't use ANY mail programs -- Snapper, Iambic or otherwise.

I'd rather have the 1.5MB of room freed up but just as you wouldn't delete "AddressBook" even if you're using another contacts app (you can, but I wouldn't advise it, even though conduits retain "placeholders"), then if you're doing any "sending" of anything including mail or contacts or SMS, I wouldn't have pulled VM out.

I had a similar experience with the M505 spratting "Web tools" or some such thing, and all of a sudden Fireviewer crashed all the time - it needed one of those elements.
