prednisolone causing paleness?

Has anyone ever heard or experienced paleness while taking prednisolone? My daughter was prescribed "orapred" 2 tsp. daily for 5 days. Since it was late afternoon/early evening when I gave her the first dose today, I only gave her 1 1/2 tsp. Anyway, about 2-3 hours after giving her the first dose, she lost all color in her face and looked very sick... pale and dark circles. When just 2 hours prior her suntanned skin was glowing. She has dark circles all the time due to allergies/sinus issues, but now that she's lost her color, they're very noticeable. I'm really just concerned that she's having a bad reaction to the steriod. She took it last month too for another sinus infection and I noticed the same paleness at that time too and had wondered if it was from the steriod, but now after it happening again very soon after administering it to her, I really think it's related. She also didn't feel like walking tonight. She would ask to be carried or she would just crawl. She said her legs hurt and that they were tired. I just hate giving her so many medicines and worry about these strange side effects. I didn't read anything about paleness in the pamplet, but plan to call her pediatrician in the morning. The muscle weakness has me worried as well. It is listed as a side effect. I just wish my poor baby could be well and not have so many allergy and sinus problems. She is currently taking zyrtec and flonase every day. IN the evenings I have had to give her 1/2 tsp. z-tuss dm to help with coughing. Today her cough was horrible again (gagging cough) and she had some expiratory wheezing. She was started on 5 days of zithromax, maxiar inhaler for a few days, cheratussin ac syrup at bedtime for cough and 5 days of prednisolone to help with the inflammation in her lungs and sinuses. She's taken all of these medications several times except the prednisolone... this is her 2nd time. That's why I'm thinking it's related to the paleness, but I just can't find anything on the internet that ties the two together. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know about the paleness specifically, but the unusual weakness demonstrated by her reluctance to walk is an effect that should be reported to the doctor or pharmacist. The specific symptoms included in the side effects for the drug that should be reported include "unusual weakness, weight loss, severe nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness."

Be sure to say that this has happened twice, both times just after the administration of the med. Sometimes parents' input about their children's health is pooh-poohed. If you know in your gut that something isn't right, be firm about it and don't let yourself be talked into anything that doesn't seem right.
