Precious (2009)

I saw this the other week....It was a powerful and amazing film, there were some aspects of it that I found disturbing, shocking & upsetting...the cast especially Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe gave excellent realistic, believable performances, I truly felt for Precious's character...I found Mo'Nique's character very frightening and a monster...Mariah, Paula & Lenny all gave decent performances within the movie....although, I didn't recognise Lenny....This deserves Oscars, Golden Globes without a doubt about it!...It was an eye opener for me, made me realise how others may have it worse than we do...The movie had a great message for all!....xo

Just had a look on the imdb page for this...it won't be out til January 29th 2010!

Just back from a US holiday and I saw this the first day I was there.
So moving and very shocking - as a few people have already said not a film to enjoy - but the performances all round are just outstanding.
Made me appreciate how lucky I am.
Got be an Oscar for Monique - she was amazing.

I just watched this. Overall it's not a bad movie. Mo'nique gave the best performance in the whole thing - really, really good. Mariah too - the character she plays really suited her.

You know what, how the hell do they expect people NOT to illegally download it/watch it when they are only showing it in 4 or 5 cinemas?

Nobody to blame but themselves, it was the same with 'Moon'. The reason it was one of the most downloaded films of the year is because they only showed it in a select few cinemas for a short period.

These film companies are complete morons.

no I didn't see it in the USA molybecks....I just happen to come across a really good screener copy of the film online, good quality it was...well worth a watch...xo

I didn't think much of it to be honest. Especially most of the acting.

It's actually quite irritating that such a deliberately harrowing storyline is completely made up.

I went to see this tonight. It's not a film I would say I 'loved' as that wouldn't feel like but I was very moved by it and thought it was a brilliant film.

My husband and a friend I was with found it unrelentingly grim and tough, without any redemption.

But I thought there was redemption, just not the normal schmaltzy Hollywood style redemption. probably just a more realistic kind of redemption for people who were in the situation might actually get.

It is a movie you should see, I would recommend. But half the people at the showing I saw were walking out quite disturbed, saying they didn't like it, the other half were in tears.

I just saw this today. Thought it was really good and as others have said the acting was generally very good and in the case of Precious' mother excellent.

Not a laugh a minute date movie, but well worth seeing.

Some are saying it wa relentlessly dark and harrowing, but I didn't see it that way. There were definitely moments of humour as well as the disturbing scenes and a few scenes that did move me to tears. I found the ending quite positive - a reaffirmation of the resilience of the human spirit if given a glimmer of hope.

It was a shame Gabourey Sidibe was left out of the shoot for the new faces in Hollywood for Vanity Fair....is Precious nominated for any BAFTAS? xo

Very unique film for me, cant say it was something i would like to watch again, not because its a bad storyline, because i felt very uneasy watching the film as it is brilliantly written and acted, feeling felt more like watching a harrowing documentry, not entertaing but something you are glad you watched,
OK its not true, but for me it applies to so many people like precious who are being abused physically and pyscologically.
if you didnt know Pecious character you would believe she is a bit dozy, not the case, her life is hell, she has no self respect and she lives in her own world to survive.i wont spoil the ending so i will leave it there, this may make you change a few opinions on how you look at some people from now on,It deserves to win awarRAB,
