I have my pre op tomorrow with my regular doctor. They said it was to make sure I am okay for anesthesia. What tests do they do?

Thanks

Hay! Good to hear it's finally coming up for you to feel better!

For my surgeries I had bloodwork, blood pressure and temperature, and an EKG along with alot of questions on past medical hisory. Was a piece of cake.

Hi

So, all he did was ask me some questions about family medical history, then he checked my heart and lungs, reflexes, and organs. Oh and my weight and height. I have lost 20 lbs but he didn't say anything about it. They had done some blood work a couple of months ago so they are going to fax those results to the surgeon. But that was all he did! It was a piece of cake. I also talked to him about my anxieties, and he helped me feel better. He said I am with the best surgeon in this area, and he really thinks I will do great! It made me feel better!

That is great news to have a good surgeon like that- It would make me feel better for sure. Usually the bloodwork is only good for 30 days for pre admission testing, so you MAY be going in for that too?? IDK I would expect that you would don't you have an appintment for pre admission testing @ the hospital? IDK maybe each dr does it differently. But nonetheless, great news on your dr and that you feel better now.

No today was my only pre op testing. Next thing is to check in at the hospital at 6 am the morning of my surgery. The surgery starts at 8 am. He said the blood work from a couple months ago was fine. Who knows....

Have they asked you if you smoke? Extremely important because it can hurt the healing process.
