Pre-natal doctor appt today, discuss other issues?

I was referred to a new doctor because my regular doctor doesn't do prenatal. Will I just go to my new doctor for any issues? Rather then going to two.. For example I have my first prenatal visit today with my new doctor and I have another issue I want to talk about that's sort of pregnancy related but not completely.. I want to go on sick leave for 15 weeks due to the high amount of stress I have been going through the last few months & it's getting worse everyday. Is it okay to ask her about it or bring it up or should I make an appointment with my regular doctor? I don't want to be out of line or anything.. Thanks!
I am in Canada so we don't go through FMLA, whatever that is. I WILL get paid for the 15 weeks sick leave, go back to work for a month or two, than take my maternity, which I WILL be paid for as well, all through Employment Insurance. The joys of living in Canada..

Wow ok. I just did this...

I have a regular dr and an ob... I just went to my regular dr on Monday and told him that I needed some time off due to stress and I wanted to go through the first trimester with no problem. He took me off work and told me to make an appt with my ob if i needed any kind of anxiety medicine, but if i wanted to extend my note to come back and see him and he'll extend it...
I think you should be fine going to your regular dr for the time off. Most OBs are pretty booked up and it would be awhile before you got to see him and get time off.

This is something you SHOULD discuss with your new doctor, she can give you the correct advice and whats best for the baby.

Well, if you mean you want your new doc to write an excuse for you to go on leave for 15 weeks, I am sure you want to talk to your old doc about it. If the doctors don't have a reason to have you on sick leave, they won't make something up. Stress can be handled with counseling and if you go see someone in the mental health realm, you might have more luck getting an excused absence from work (as I am assuming you are talking about). Just an FYI thing. But since your old doc knows you well and might have ideas as to your abilities to handle stress, you might want to start there. But don't be shocked if they can't give you an excused absence. You can always take off for the FMLA if you have more than 15 employees at your company. They have to hold your job for 6 months, regardless of the reason for your leaving (you are taking care of a family member...your unborn child). But you will not be paid, although I can't imagine you would be paid for 15 weeks sick leave for stress either. And just remember that the more time you take off before the baby, the less likely you are to get a good amount of time off after the baby. FMLA would only allow you an additional 9 weeks after the baby is born.

Your OB/GYN is your Dr. for the 9 months that you are pregnant. Any issue that you have, you can call or see them about it. Good luck and congrats.
