pre employment background check?

So I went a week and a day ago to my job interview. Was there for an hour. and was happy at the end where they told me i had recieved the job. I was told I had to take a drug test and they had to do a background check. It had been this long and i have taken the drug test. and i called wend. and they said they still havent gotten the background check. I dont want to call them and bug them. But how long should it take for a bakground check. I have gottem many different idea of how long it will take. And to be honest it is quite annoying. So can you help please.. Thanks
