T Tuyet New member Mar 16, 2010 #2 use the change over base rule. log4(x-5) = -1 step 1. 4^(-1) = x - 5 step 2. 1/4 = x - 5 step 3. (1/4) + 5 = x step 4. (1/4) + (20/4) = x step 5. 21/4 = x and that's all!
