Pre calc question on solving equations?

i have two questions that iam stuck on any help will be appriciated


1. cos^2 x + 3cos x= 1 + sin^2 x
so far i have gotten this
3cos x= 1 - cos^2 x + sin^2 x
3cos x = sin^2 x + sin^2 x
3cos x = 2 sin^2 x
then iam stuck

i have one other problem that i cant get either
e^x -3e^-x = 2
