Pre approved house loan... can you get a bigger loan then what you were pre

approved for? I am new to all of this stuff so bare with me. say you get preapproved for a house loan in the amount of $100,000 but the house is $130,000. is the preapproval just an estimate of how much the bank will loan or is it that's all the bank will loan you? not sure if you could get a loan for more then what you are preapproved for. thanks
 
a pre approval is just that , it's not an estimated preapproval. you would have to get reapproved and hopefully you have some additional or benificial changes to your assets debts or income that will allow your second preapproval to come in at a higher amount
