I really hope this True Movie gets to be shown on TV over here as I read the book and when i saw this movie

my heart just broke and i was in tears as there was many things i could identify with

but the story is about a homophobic mother and her gay son

IT's a must watch cos it's a very good and true movie

Signorery Weaver plays the mother and won awarRAB for her role in this movie

must of been this year as it was only released in the uk in feb ...

just watched this its vey good indeed , sigourney weaver is excellent as mary griffith.

Agreed.. it's deserving of a decent DVD release, and Ryan Kelley is fantastic in the role. The Matthew Sheppard story is long overdue for a release as well.

Some of the posters from another thread I think we have both been engaged with could do with taking a look at these two films. When are they going to wake up to that fact that their bigotry KILLS PEOPLE.

2010, and some things never seem to change sadly....

It is. Absolutely tragic... If you feel as passionately about this kind of injustice as I do, then it's a case worth studying, not least for a lesson in unbelievable compassion. The film is beautiful, the story horrendous.

Another film which takes a different, but interesting perspective of Matt's life and the consequences of his death is "The Laramie Project".

I'd also urge you to read up on the Westbro Baptist Church, and in particular, the "Pastor" Fred Phelps, and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper. Better yet, just type their names into a Youtube search. I think you will be utterly horrified by their attitude and actions. They are unconscionable scum, who I regularly comment on, either directly to them, or through blogs and a few other places.

Some of the people on this earth REALLY never cease to disgust me. Have a read, have a watch, and let me know what you think.. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Take care :)

This movie is a must. I was literally crying like a baby a the end. I kid you not, you will cry at this movie. It is superbly acted too.
