Prank calling business?

I heard that if you prank call a business, they say they will call the cops on you but they really cant? If you are in wisconsin and call someone from kansas can they still find you even if you use *67? all of these prank call videos from 'Friday Night Cranks' never gets in trouble. Can anyone tell me some information on prank calling and being safe? Thanks
