Practicalities of a California traffic court?

I am going to court in a few days to plead my case against a traffic ticket I got. I have sufficient evidence to plead my case, but need some info on the actual proceedings of the court.
Its in San Luis Obisbo county and the ticket is driving without a valid drivers license. I am a foreigner and have found out that the officer misunderstood my situation and therefor gave me the ticket on a false basis.
Have anybody been to court that can say how it will work, or maybe give me directions to some info?
 
Give it up. The cop will lie, the court will say you are a liar. Your guilty. PAY UP! That's the American way now.Unless you are a cop, a po0litician, your guilty
