PPV Charge Question

Hey All,
I had a question about how PPV Charges are charged to your bell account.

I own a 9242 and ordered a movie for the first time using the buy option on the receiver. I ordered the movie at the end of Feb and just got my bill today and the movie charge is not on our newest bill.

Does it usually take an extra month or so to show on your bill, or did I get a freebie some how? When I go to the Purchase History Screen, it is shows on there still. I'm just curious how it works. I figured the receiver would dial out right away and the charge would be on our next bill.

BTW - The movie we ordered was that Vicky Cristina Barcelona one. Terrible movie...don't recommend at all!
 
I don't think you got a freebie you were just at the end of your billing cycle.You can look forward to paying on your next bill.
 
The receivers don't call out for each PPV purchase. They call out periodically and upload your entire purchase history to that point. So it can take 2, even 3 billing cycles for your purchases to show up.
 
If the receiver was new and you still have not hooked up the phone line you will not be charged until you DO hook up the phone line.

I know I have had PPV's in the distant past when the receiver had been installed for only a few days. As I never hook up the phone line I never got charged, then the receiver died, Bell shipped me a replacement, again never got charged.
 
He used the Buy function on the receiver so his phone must be hooked up.

I too bought Vicky Christina Barcelona, but called it in over the phone (1 866-68ORDER) and haven't been charged yet. Perhaps Bell is apologizing to us for such a terrible movie.
 
Unless it has changed very recently you could always buy a PPV without the phone line on any new receiver within the first few days.
 
Yup, that is correct. I do have my phone line plugged in. That is why I thought it would dial out right away. My last connect with the phone line was the same day I ordered the movie (which has been almost a month now) as I just did a test connection with it to make sure it was working before I ordered the movie.

I have had my receiver since October, so it is not that new Pinza. I tried ordering PPV before I got the phone line hooked up, but it never worked. It wanted an active phone line to do this.

It almost appears to me then that I could order many PPVs without paying for them. All I'd have to do is make sure my phone line is plugged in when I actually ordered the movie, then just unplug it after so it never dials out. I guess sooner or later it would dial out on me though.

Maybe they did give the movie to us free as it sucked!
 
The card will store so many PPV purchases up to a specified limit ($50-60?) at which point it will not allow you to order any more events until the purchases are sent through a call-in to Bell. Once those purchases have gone through, you can continue ordering to the specified limit once again. Technically it would be possible to order this much and not hook up the phone line, but you'd reach your cap soon enough.
 
If the receiver is connected to the telephone line until the end of your film it gets automatically charged to the bill. If the telephone line is disconnected before the end of the film it doesn't get charge and the info of the purchase is stored in the receiver's memory (purchase history). The next time you hook up your receiver again it would try to dial out to add the information for the billing departement.

The receiver let you order up to 150$ worth of PPV for most clients. It is possible if there is a payment problem, or if it was requested by the client that the amount will be less.

When you reach the 150$ the receiver will give you a message saying you have reached the credit limit or something like that. If it happens you won't be able to order another movie until BellTV receives a payment
 
As topdogz401 stated, the purchases are stored on the CAM (smart card) not the receiver, and the limit is in the $50-$60 range, not $150.
 
$150 is way to high a figure. At $5 per PPV thats 30 movies. I think closer to $30 or 40.
 
On the old system, it was in fact a fixed amount of exactly $50. I am 100% positive, not that this topic is important in any way. I'm assuming that they made no changes with the N3 cards.
 
Not all PPV's are movies tho, sports events range from $40 to $55 depending on the event as well as adult movies which i believe are$9.99 or $12.99 or somewhere in that price range. So the $150 limit could be possible. I know whenever i order and HD UFC fight it doesn't phone it in right away. It usually updates after i put another one on or what a few movies.
 
I'm sure it 150$... A guy in Nova Scotia had a very unpleasnt surprise which almost cost him a divorce... His teenagers, after school and before he came back from work, where ordering PPV porn movies. They were always disconnecting the receiver before the movie ended (probably missing the end cause daddy was back home). After a month or 2 the bill had rant up to over 100$ (some were "preview" at 0.99$, some at 9.99$). Daddy comes home and orders a movie with the wife. He leaves the receiver hooked to the telephone line until the end of the movie and therefore all the info of the PPV purchase gets transmitted to the receiver. A few weeks later mommy receives the bill and see some strange movies names on the bill. She ask daddy about it and he say he doesn't know what they are. Mommy calls BellTV and get the confirmation that movies were pornos... Daddy still denies ordering any PPV. Mommy thinks that Daddy is lying to her. Finally daddy calls to get the listing of the movies order and at what time movies were ordered. All the movies were ordered at a time that daddy wasn't home. Daddy brings that list to mmoy and the copy of his punch card worsheet. Mommy appologise. Daddy forgives her. Mommy calls BellTV and brings her PPV limit to 0$, making it impossible to order a PPV from her home. Mommy took the X BOx and Playstation of the teenager for a week and forced them to cut the grass at a few neibourgs home to pay for the PPV they ordered.

50$ woudn't be enought...most boxing events are 39.99$ or 49.99$! If you buy one of these events you woudn't be able to order any other PPV for the month...I don't think so! BellTV cares too mauch about making money to miss out on that!
