A black man's song.
I looked in the mirror.
What did I see?
Not black not white
but me, only me.
Coal black face
with big bright eyes
and lily white teeth
that's lil old me.
Yes I looked in the mirror.
What did I see?
I saw a fella who's dear to me.
Short broad nose,
full thick lips
and black kinky hair;
man that's me.
Oh I looked in the mirror.
What did I see?
I saw a fella
as cute as can be,
that must be me.
If you look in the mirror,
What will you see?
You may see black,
you may see white;
but you wont see me,
no sirree not me.
