Ppl in chat rooms.....what the heck is up with this?

I just started going into a chat room for the first time and what I found were a group of ppl who are strangers except online who talk about crude stuff and rude to each other. Also, they take turns passing each other around and call that dating? Is this for real? It seems stupid and pointless to me. Also, it seems like many of them spend most of their day doing this. Normal or not? Most of them are teens but it seems like a waste of time to me. Thanks
 
i know exactly wot u mean ewwwwwww cud u imagine the stuff on their key boards (vomit) they call it dating i call it deluding themselves.....saying all that it's their business really
