The best thing to do is contact the FOS - I had PPI with Capital One and when I became unemployed Jan 09 I activated the PPI through Axa Insurance and it took months to sort it out which meant Capital One added default notices to my account every month and then told me I should have paid my monthly payments while waiting for the PPI to be processed, I was only claiming for a few months and then started working again, I then payed my credit card balance of £200 which was the card limit but now with £93 defaults which I refuse to pay had been passed to FDC debt collectors, the FOS, financial ombudsman is currently looking into it as in 2007 Capital One was fine £175,000 for selling false PPI.
