PPC 6600 Help Guide?

If you would like I can call you and talk you through the settings I used to ge all working. I am fairly confident I can get you up an running. As far as making and receiving calls and text that is...

i made no comments about web access on cricket's phones (except that 10/11 support it). you've worked in 'telecom' for ten years but don't understand subsidizing the phone price? that's about as far as i can go before my comments become a flame. the simple explanation is a flat-rate no-contract carrier cannot subsidize phone prices as much as a carrier with a contract and potential overage charges, high revenue data bolt-ons etc.. can.

the razr when you order through the web is only 259.99 and depending on the market you're in their may be a mail in rebate available.

well backmtomthe subject....grin

what i was hoping for was a thread started that would help in understanding acronyms between phone types mostly. but most of all figuring out what all ofbthe menu settingsbwere and whethern or not changing them is even needed. for examplenwhen reading the thread on wap for 6700nthere are a few terms being cited which dont match minemon this 6600. my remark was about understandingnhow to convert the terminology so as to increase understanding.

whatbindid to get this 6600 working came from no thread. i simply struggled withnit until theblaw of averages caught up to my benefit. i still have no idea if this could work better if i edited other settings in th #778 menus? simply because i have no idea if they even apply to cricket?? i am not complaingnin any way. mi am simply statingnthat i was unable to find a single thread on this or aany other site reguarding the settings like slot cycle or things like 3G settings.... i am not saying 6hey are not out there... l simply do not know if i am searching correctly...

this is really hard to type with these tiny little buttons......grin

You really should take the time to read my posts. You're completely off base in your replies.

1. I never mentioned web access, I said web phones meaning phones available from the cricket website.

2. I don't care about phone prices, except I can buy phones cheaper from ebay that are verizon and sprint phones than I can actually buy from Cricket. I know why Crickets prices are insane, I already stated that.

3. I know how much the outdated, ugly, and no frills Razr costs. I just bought one at a cricket store last week. 279.99 -50 rebate -30 phone return discount.

Maybe you should take the time to read my posts saying that people would join cricket more if they knew they could a) use their old verizon phones here and b) knew they could buy phones on ebay and use them on cricket. Let me reiterate the previous posts and what I said so you understand exactly what I'm saying.

Please, make sure the next time you reply you understand exactly what I've said.

Finally after changing settings over and over again I have made some progress. I can now navigate the web without any problems. No need to go through google portal and search then click. I am now able to simply type in address and go there. eg.. aol.com and can go there. just have to figure out how to get page to fit screen

I am now wondering what else I can change to get optimum performance... This is on CRICKET only. I have no idea what I am doing. I am just reading what little I can find on the PPC 6600 and then experimenting. If anyone knows what all of the other settings in the #778 menu mean and can give a short explanation as to their purpose I might be able to get a little more out of this. There are just so many acronyms on this thing that I wish there was a sticky on acronyms only.. Like SID, NID, NAM, NIM, and so on. True this and true that. This phones menu is all acronyms and is simply maddening trying to figure out what they mean compared to other manufacturers acronyms on their phones...

what is ota?

i have everything working except i still dont know how to setup outlook to send photo message.

there are so many settings i am not sure if they are the best settings. i just realized ota ... no. i did all manually. not sure i should try since all seems to be working.

why don't you look at another walkthrough for another phone and learn what those things mean? I know what SID and NAM mean just from working on my vx9900 which you'll find a thread at the top of this forum about.

I've had cricket off and on for 3 years. I've had AT&T off and on for 3 years. I was a switch technician for AT&T for 2 years, and I've been on hofo for god knows how long.

I don't have a heavy CDMA background, but I'm learning. I've been in telecommunications for 10 years or so, SONET, Switch, that sort of thing.

Nice to meet you too ;)

not really....

what i am hoping to do is figure out what all of the ##778 menu settings do. i seem to have everything working fine. i am just curious if it can be better. there are a lot of settings hever mentioned in any thread i have searched.

like in the 3g areas, master subsidy menu there are several in those menus.... slot cycle, qcelp, etc.. just wondering if these non talked about menu items are beneficial and what they should be set to if needed?

Google them, I already found what slot cycle is. Remeraber, 99% of the public don't know about those menu's or features because those phones already work on Verizon / Sprint so people have no reason to mess with them.

In the Cricket world, we're all pretty much the first people to test these things. If you can't find help here, I doubt you will almost anywhere.

i was reading where cricket contracted 126million dollars for evdo / 3g services. n my phones icon says im connected 3g i dont think my settings are correct to get 3g speed. i am assuming i should verify if 3g is available yet?

so i am hoping others can tell me what settings they have in their ##778 3g data1 settings to compare performance. as far as carrier specific i jus6 a sume evdo / 3g is the same type of settings just differnt values?
