Powerpoint 2007 Presentation Won't Display Images in Powerpoint 2000?

One of the people in our Marketing department created a powerpoint presentation using Powerpoint 2007. He then saved it as a ppt file, to be compatible with the older versions of MS Office we have throughout our company. After that, he copied the file to a shared location on a server.

My manager, who uses Powerpoint 2007, is able to view the images in the presentation normally. However, when I try to open the file from the server or when saved to my computer, it only shows red X's instead of the images.

I am using Powerpoint 2000, with the 2007 compatibility pack installed. I have verified that I had all the latest updates, hotfixes, service packs, etc. downloaded and installed from Windows Update and Office Updates. This includes MSXML 6.0 SP1 as well. When I checked the "About MS Powerpoint" section, it shows MS Powerpoint 2000 SP-3 (9.0.8978). What could be the issue with my machine?
