[h=3]Associated Press[/h]NEW YORK — The storms that roared through New York City took out power for some city residents along the way, but the lights are back on.
The severe weather spawned two tornados, in Queens and Brooklyn, as more than 1,100 customers lost power on Saturday.
By Sunday morning, almost all power had been restored.
The first tornado went through the Breezy Point section of the Rockaway peninsula in Queens. The second twister hit to the northwest, in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn .
The unsettled weather, part of a cold front that crossed over the Eastern Seaboard, toppled trees and power lines and damaged buildings as it passed through.
