Power Commander V v Stage 1?

I have a '10 Street Glide with the hi-flow air cleaner, Stage 1 download, and the H-D Nightstick slip-on muffler. If I added the Jackpot hi-flow header pipe, would there be any reason to add the Power Commander as well, or will it run fine (no negative drawbacks) with just the Stage 1 download?

My main concern would be the engine running too lean with a free-er flowing exhaust and not enough fuel.

Thanks,

Carl

Some people stick with the ecm-reflash from Harley but I personally think it's a waste of time and money. They charge you about 150.00 for this service and then when you do any further mods you've got to get it re-flashed again? Not me, I'd rather spend the 300.00 up front for the Power Commander and then just re-map it whenever I change something on my bike. And yes, the ecm re-flash that the dealer will give you will have you running "factory lean" again. I prefer a richer mixture and a cooler running engine.

Stop by fuel Moto's website and get yourself a PC-V.

I had the ECM download on my Classic springer, my pipes glowed orange at night... I took it back and they said it's the right download and for 450 they would dyno it.

My 09 SG (PCV) runs better and cooler than my 06 Heritage Classic with the download. Sg has Rinehart slip-ons and the Heritage had V&H Bigshot Longs, both are quality pipes. I didn't realize how much differance the PCV could make.

The PCV will help and is a great tuner. But to answer your question, I have the stage one flash, SE heavy breather and had the nightstick. I switched to some Rinehart xtreme true duals and it still runs great and even better now that i don't have a cat and the better flowing cat-less exhaust is much cooler now. I know it will run cooler and perform better with a PCV and a fuel moto map but until i save up for it the flash is working fine.
