Power Commander 5 and Auto Tune Info

Guys, This may be what I am missing, what is teh diagnostic plug on the left side. Is that the orange plug off the autotune modules that looks like it plugs in, but the diagram does not show it connected? Does it connect to the bike? If so, throttle side or clutch side?

I am running, my problem was the diag plug, for some reason a couple of engineers convinced ourselfs that one connector was a terminator. The AFRs are being updated now....

Thanks for all your help. After a few rides, I will be asking for help with making changes to the maps.

ICLICK, Taterdigger, Thanks for your help.

Jamie...I think I am good now,at least until I start tweaking.

Glad to see you are up and running. I really like my PCV/AT. I have had a problem with hot starts on my 07. Call FM and they suggested to use the "Startup Fuel" option and add fuel during the first 30 seconds of run time. I tried that and the problem was worse. I suspected the problem was to much fuel at starup. Kind of like trying to "Hot Start" a FI Lycoming. I then put in minus 27 fuel for two seconds at startup. I have my idle fuel at minus 27 at 0 TPS at 1000 and 1250 rpm to get idle AFR's at 12.6. Hot starts are good now.

DId this change the cold start characteristics also? FOr example, prior to my PCV I would wait until the "engine" light went out and then start. After the PCV the above procedure would result in longer starting. DId your startup change "fix" that issue?

I usuall just flip on the switch and hit the starter. I have not noticed any difference in cold starts, if 80 dgs + can be considered a cold start. I have tried it both ways with no difference.

It won't hurt. I ran my PCIII for two years without it and had no problems, but when I upgraded to the PCV I did use it. I can't think of a reason not to.

Hey guys, I am back for more help. After getting up and running, I couldn't wait to have the trim values update my base map. After riding Sunday for about 1 hour, I accepted the trim vaules. I went for a ride this evening looking forward to more trim values to my map, and 5 miles from home the bike started backfiring and running really bad. Similar to a post from Streetglider, (Should have taken the laptop for a ride) any way I limped home, reset my map to the base map for my bike with SE AC and Jackpots. Headed out....no problem... Plan to look at trim levels tomorrow, but I am afraid to accept the trim values.

I went back to compare Jamies map to the auto tune after accepting trims, and there are some big differences, e.g., Jamies base map has + values (10) and the trim set me to -10. I plan to call Jamie tomorrow. But, when I look at trim values, how do I know which ones to accept? How often should I accept them? Should I ride for N hours before even considering accepting the values?

Thanks for all your help...

you dont have to accept them at all. as long as the trims are present, its just the same as if those trims were applied to the basemap. only time you would notice a difference is if you cleared them.

Please don't jump me, but why accept them then? I'm looking to buy tomorrow morning, and now I want to learn a little before it gets here. I've read through lots of posts. What I think I understand is that:

The system uses two new O2 sensors designed to work with the autotune system. (they're a PIA to get out/in)

You hook it up as directed and it forces the ECM to issue altered fuel instructions to the injectors.

It looks at the O2s to determine the adjustments to make as the bike runs by trying to match target AFRs we can predetermine in some software table.

If we like the performance/adjustments we can lock them in as a new baseline for the system to auto tune from.

?????? I'm I close??
