Hello, I have severe anxiety and have for a long time. I'm always concerned with my heart because I always have an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I have noticed that when I get stressed or something and sit up in bed or stand up my heart will begin to pound very hard and i get lightheaded. Does anyone else have this symptom?

Oh and I recently went to the doctor and she said everything looked perfect. She listened to my heart, ran tons of blood tests, a urine test, thyroid test and she said everything looked perfect. I'm. Just wondering if anyone else has this symptom of a pounding heart when you sit up or stand up.

Hi Jack-77, sorry to hear you are having problems. I have suffered from anxiety for years also, and I am used to the heart pounding also. It's not the exact same as yours, but my heart pounRAB really, really hard and fast when I am stressed, nerved-up, or having an anxiety attack. I also feel as if it is fluttering at night when I am laying down and very stressed out.

I have also had the doctor do a few tests recently, things came out okay for the heart, but waiting on a few others.

I am glad you had some tests done, also.

I know my situation is not the exact same as yours, but I hope this may make you feel a bit better to know that someone else out there with anxiety has similiar symptoms.

Take Care

:)

It's called heart palpitations which are I assume aren't dangerous as long as you don't have any pre-existing heart conditions which your doctor pretty much said no to. So yeah you're completely normal, I usually have heart palpitations when laying down. There's nothing wrong with you.. except for anxiety of course. Best of luck getting of your anxiety.

Ok thanks for the responses. I went to a cardiologist a couple years ago and they said everything looked good. It just scared me because when I would sit up or stand up my heart would pound real hard and slow and i would get lightheaded. I didn't know if it was normal for a slow hard heart rate for anxiety.
