My son is 16 months old and by using a very loose form of elimination communication he is pretty much potty trained through the day in the house. My problem is he is now asking for potty (he uses baby signing for this) when we are out and about. We do have a potty in the car but he has always taken ages on the potty and needs to be somewhere he can see things going on, i.e. not a pubic loo (he also find these scary). Plus I am a non-driver so most of the time he is not out in the car but out in the buggy with me. We have never mastered the art of cueing him to do a wee or a poo either so trying that when out won’t help. Finally he doesn’t seem to get what a toilet is for, so trying him a toilet has failed, despite always having an open door policy when it comes to us using the loo.
