Potter Park

Dawn French has been filming scenes for the Forbidden Journey ride. Apparently it lasts 60 minutes - although a lot of it will be walking through the castle I imagine.

TBH it p*sses me off a bit. Why can't we do a HP ride here?

Mind you, loved the Google Ad for Poulton's Park popping up. That hardly qualifies as a theme park at all.
In fact it doesn't, it's for children and no really big rides at all.:D

They could barely afford to do it in the US.

The "theme park within a theme park" is actually only one new ride. They've just re-themed two rollercoasters and built Hogwarts/Hogsmeade - which is pretty small really.

Plus they paid JK Rowling and Warner Brothers a total fortune, pre-recession, and only got the theme park rights for 20 years. Disney simply wouldn't pay for it.

Universal Studios Orlando is now $1bn in debt and down the pan if this doesn't take off in a BIG way.

Took the worRAB right out of my mouth.

I hate that they call this "Harry Potter Park" - when its just a retheme of Lost Continent, albeit an expensive reteheme.

I can see it taking off, luckily for USO, especially as the Mouse doesn't really have anything to combat it until '12 with Princessland... sorry "Fantasyland Forest".

I find that a little weird to be honest.

Surely they will be losing teens to Harry Potter, maybe even people in their twenties now.

Star Tour 2 is on its way, but really I don't see why they think doubling Fantasyland (again only with 1 new ride) is going to do the trick.

Well getting Team Disney Orlando to spend money these days is like getting blood out of a stone.

Sure they're getting Star Tours II, which admittedly I'd forgot about earlier, but everyone will make a fuss over Potter as if its truly out of this world.

Sure, what I've seen it does look an amazing theme package, so I can't knock them for that.

Having said that, I'm certainly not in any rush to go see it.

They're not...its called "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" and Universal have made it quite clear from the onset that it is a theme park 'within' a theme park.

I've been following construction on a number of websites and simply put this is going to be HUGE. Dont even get me started on what the Forbidden Journey ride is going to be like judging from the teasers already shown and the rumours abound :D

I've been following it as well and its far from huge.

It's small - very small. A 'theme park within a theme park' is more than just one new ride to me.

The area it takes up is no bigger than any other area of that park and its one of the smallest parks in Orlando.

Sorry my previous post wasn't worded that well. I wasn't referring to the actual size of the land taken up, I was referring to the fact that the hype, the buzz, the unbeliveable themeing, the sheer amount of ground breaking technology being used, in other worRAB the whole excitement and anticipation surrounding the WWOHP is going to be HUGE :)

Yeah it is just the one new ride, but it doesn't bother me one bit in the slightest, as if you like me, have been following its progress you will know that its going to be a one of a kind experience like nothing else :)

Just watched the ellen thing! I cant wait to go again!!! just for all the photo opportunities!!! Il want a pic of everything!!

And all the HP crap il be able to buy in the shops!!! Cant wait!

My dad's just booked for my family to go to Florida and visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!!!! So excited! We are going on June 24th so we will be going there during its first week and will be amongst the first to experience it!!! Cannot wait!!! It looks amazing

i dont think i will ever get to go...but if Ellen escorted me around - that would be lovely!

i would certainly love to work there...dressing up in silly costumes and pretending to be a wizard charcter or get to wear a kilt!!! did something similar..if not totally smaller scale at one of Dungeons.

Yeh, sure I get that. And I want to go too.

I do think they are overhyping it though. People are genuinely expecting to find a theme park and its going to be a big come down when the whole things lasts 90 minutes. The shops even look tiny in that Ellen video.

It wont be helped by the fact that it seems most kiRAB will only get on the Flight of the Hippogriff - one of the smallest and sorest rollercoasters I have ever riden - as they are going to be tight overhead restraints on the other 2 rides.
